Board of Works Meeting Minutes - 1/7/2013

 

BOARD OF WORKS

 

January 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Greg York.

 

 

ORDER OF BUSINESS:

 

·         Mayor York made the following announcements regarding staff changes;

o        Don Tichenor has retired as Director of Public Works and a member of the Board of Works, noting the Don had been retained as a consultant on City Projects.

o        Dave Barker has been hired as Director of Public Works and a member of the Board of Works.

o        Bud Ayers has been replaced as a Board of Works member by City Attorney David Copenhaver.

o        Mayor York announced that he will be responsible for Human Resources of the city.

o        Debbie Thornhill will be Grant and Web Administrator.

o        Jean Ann Hill has retired as the Mayor's Assistant.

o        Kendra Kennedy has been hired as the Mayor's Assistant and will start January 14th.

o        Harold Frame, Building Inspector, has retired.

o        Aaron Davis has been hired as the Deputy Building Inspector.

·         Mayor York introduced Dave Barker to everyone in attendance.

·         Director Barker moved to approve minutes from the previous meeting.  Attorney Copenhaver seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Mayor York requested a motion to accept the Payroll, Water, Wastewater and General fund claims for the week of January 2, 2013 to January 7, 2013.   Director Barker moved to accept.  Attorney Copenhaver seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Mayor York presented the 2013 Lifestream Lease.  After review Director Barker moved to approve the rental lease.  Attorney Copenhaver seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Mayor York announced that Christmas trees would be picked up this year with regular trash.  He requested that residents place the trees next to their toters.  He announced that trash was back on schedule.

·         Mayor York announced that beginning with the January 22nd Board of Works meeting, citizens appearing before the board would begin the meetings, noting this would allow them to approach the board and not have to sit through all city business if they chose not to.

·         Clerk Treasurer York announced that beginning February 1, 2013 the drive up hours in the Utility Office would be changing.  Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday hours would be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Office hours would remain 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
