Board of Works Meeting Minutes - 11/5/2012

BOARD OF WORKS

 

November 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Greg York.

 

 

ORDER OF BUSINESS:

 

·         Superintendent Ayers moved to suspend the rules for the reading of the minutes and accept last week's BOW minutes.  Director Tichenor seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Mayor York requested a motion to accept the Payroll, Water, Wastewater and General fund claims for the week of October 29 to November 5, 2012.   Director Tichenor moved to accept.  Superintendent Ayers seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Director Tichenor presented awards for Transportation projects taken under advisement in previous meeting and moved to accept.  Superintendent Ayers seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

o        Project #1              A&R Doors                           $20,855.98

o        Project #2              Ferrell Builders                     $22,855.00

o        Project #3              Barco Products                     $ 5,750.00

·         Director Tichenor opened sealed quotes for the Transportation Department Message Center project and moved the board take under advisement.  Superintendent Ayers seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

o        Quote #1                Margison                               $17,630.37

o        Quote #2                Advance Sign                       $15,500.00

·         Attorney Copenhaver presented Resolution #BOW11052012 informing the board that the Resolution authorizes the Mayor to sign all agreements in regard to the Jennings Building Project.  Attorney Copenhaver noted for all in attendance that this is the first step of many in the process.  Director Tichenor moved to approve Resolution #BOW110512.  Superintendent Ayers seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Mayor York informed the board that a citizen of the city was placing flyers on vehicles stating the city water was contaminated.  Water Superintendent Watson informed the board and all in attendance the process, noting it had not been changed in 30 years.

·         Mayor York informed the board and all in attendance that on November 17th @ 1:00 at the Library there will be a 100 Year Celebration of the Fire Department.

·         Police Chief Catron informed the board that Andrew Williams would be resigning effective November 2, 2012, he has accepted another position.

 

CITIZENS APPEARING

 

·         James Bowers, Modoc, Indiana stated he was the homeowner of 1414 South 19th and requested information on the properties that have been foreclosed on or abandoned in that area.  He was informed by the board that 1420/1417 and 1424 South 19th Street were on the Demolition List.

·         Denny Adams of Knights of Pythias presented his request for the 23rd Annual Christmas Parade noting there would be a 6pm Festival of Lights celebration at the Courthouse after the parade.  Mr. Adams also commended Mayor York on the Downtown Tree Removal project.

·         Jim Frezel of Triad Engineering presented a handout of an analysis of the city water system and necessary upgrades, noting he would gladly sit down with administration and discuss his analysis further.
