Henry County Chamber of Commerce Names New Director

We are pleased to announce Missy Modesitt has been appointed by the Board of Directors as Executive Director of the Chamber. Missy has served as Interim Director since April 1 and will assume the position permanently on Monday, August 30th.  As we prepare for our strategic planning this fall, Missy's focus will be on enhancing benefits and increasing membership value for our local businesses.

Missy Kellam Modesitt was born and raised in Henry County. She and her husband, Mike, chose to raise their family in the Kellam family homestead and returned to the county after graduating from college. Missy holds a baccalaureate degree from Purdue University and a Masters degree from Ball State University. She taught middle school special education for 14 years before becoming a national educational consultant for Pearson Learning Group. Missy moved into higher education in 2005 when she became the director of the Danielson Learning Center in New Castle. While there, Modesitt worked to increase the program offerings and the student enrollment by working closely with an advisory board of community leaders to determine local educational needs. Missy has been active in the New Castle Henry County Chamber of Commerce as a board member for the past 4 years. She became the Interim Executive Director for the Chamber in April 2010. She begins her duties as the permanent Executive Director on August 30, 2010.
Missy and her husband have three children, Becca, a senior, Megan a sophomore, and Chandler in seventh grade. They are all three active in band and sports.  Her husband, Mike, is the Director of Technology at the Teachers College at Ball State University.  In her spare time Missy enjoys making glass beads and jewelry and participates in the Henry County artist's cooperative, Arts in the Attic in downtown New Castle.
