Henry County Community Foundation Silver Anniversary Celebration - Dedication of Basketball & Sand Volleyball Courts

Details provided by the Henry County Community Foundation website  and an article published in the Courier Times on July 14 by Jeremy Hines, sports editor.

For the past 25 years, the Henry County Community Foundation (HCCF), a public trust which secures permanent funds for philanthropic purposes, has distributed over $10,000,000 back into the community, helped over 2400 students, sponsors several annual events, and has granted multi-year grants for the construction of buildings throughout Henry County.

To celebrate their Silver Anniversary the HCCF donated $25,000 toward the renovation of the Baker Park basketball courts and spear-headed the community fundraising efforts.  The original basketball courts were built around 1954 and served the community valiantly, but time had taken its toll.  The HCCF brought together numerous individuals from the Henry County community who donated their dollars, time, talents and expertise to see to it that our rich basketball history could continue in Baker Park and to create a new sports venue, sand volleyball.

Now it's time to celebrate!!

The festivities will begin when anyone and everyone who can dribble a basketball will meet at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame for a mini parade to the Baker Park basketball courts.  Participants will be allowed to take a shot on the brand new court as well as place their signature on a document that will be buried in a time capsule later in the day.
