All They Want For Christmas...

Posted: Friday, December 25, 2015 12:00 am

The Courier-Times asked local officials what they wanted Santa to bring and what their Christmas wishes were for the City of New Castle and Henry County. Here are their responses:

New Castle Mayor Greg York: “New sidewalks. We want to improve the city’s sidewalks, especially downtown. We’re getting ready to improve Broad Street and we want to improve the sidewalks downtown to make them more residential friendly. We’re going to be having a lot more activity downtown, so we want our sidewalks to be safe and user friendly. I also want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Also, to everyone who has been coming out and supporting all the events that take place downtown. I want to thank them and encourage them to continue to support the downtown area.”

New Castle Police Chief Brad Catron: “We’d like to see less drug activity and overdoses, less prescription drug abuse and some type of long-term, in-patient mental health services made available locally.”

Henry County Sheriff Ric McCorkle: “My focus is going to be what it alway has been and that is a war on drugs. In serving the citizens of Henry County, we aren’t going to let anyone involved rest. With the current attitude toward law enforcement, I would like to ask that everyone keep us in their prayers. We are going to remain positive and serve the city and county as we always have. I hope everyone in the city and county has a wonderful Christmas and New Year.”

Henry County Council President Nate LaMar: “As Henry County’s quality of place amenities continue to improve, we hope more corporate headquarters will consider locating here in 2016 and beyond thanks to our EDC.”

President of the Henry County Board of Commissioners Ed Yanos: “Well, I’d like him to bring us another $100 million business investment and a few hundred more jobs for Henry County.”

Henry County Commissioner Kim Cronk: “Future economic growth with lots of new jobs for the citizens of Henry County and joy, happiness and faith for our citizens.”

New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Corey Murphy: “Continued positive momentum.”
