General manager Katie Layman wants the restaurant to accommodate everyone and every occasion from a quick lunch to a fancy date night, or even a special event like a birthday or graduation party.
“I’m most excited to finally invite the community in for a meal,” said Layman.
Primo will serve a myriad of options, including a crowd favorite, pumpkin ravioli, and a salad named for the city of New Castle.
Brandon Brown, a native of California, has been in New Castle for several weeks helping prepare the bar and train the bartenders.
“This (Primo) has been in the works for several years,” said Brown, “I met Ray (Willey) a few years ago at the bar I worked at in San Fransisco.”
After their initial meeting, Willey, a developer of the L.A. Jennings Building downtown, and Brown stayed in touch, ultimately ending with Brown moving to New Castle for a few weeks this summer until the restaurant is up and running. Primo is located on 1326 Broad Street in New Castle, across the street and west of the Jennings Building.
Layman hopes to eventually make connections and serve meals using items from local vendors and businesses as well.
