Board of Works Meeting Minutes - 7/16/2012

BOARD OF WORKS

 

July 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

 

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Greg York.

 

 

ORDER OF BUSINESS:

 

·         Commissioner Ayers moved to suspend the rules for the reading of the minutes and accept last week's BOW minutes.  Director Tichenor seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Mayor York requested a motion to accept the Payroll, Water, Wastewater and General fund claims for the week of July 10 to July 16, 2012.   Commissioner Ayers moved to accept.  Director Tichenor seconded.  Motion carried 3-0 

·         Director Tichenor moved to rescind the motion to approve the quotes presented by the Transportation Department in the July 2, 2012 meeting due to the wrong amounts being presented and approved.  Commissioner Ayers seconded.  Motion carried 3-0 

o        After discussion Mayor York stated that the vendors would need to be contacted to confirm that their quote still stands and represent to BOW.  Noting that if any vendor chooses not to honor their quote, all quotes will need to be re-done.

·         Director Tichenor presented bills from United Consulting for approval of payment.  Commissioner Ayers moved to approve payment.  Director Tichenor seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

 

MAYOR REPORTS

 

·         No reports presented.

 

DEPARTMENT HEAD REQUESTS  

 

·         Building Commissioner Frame presented a request for handicap parking with medical documentation location being 137 South 7th Street.  Commissioner Ayers moved to approve.  Director Tichenor seconded.  Motion carried 3-0

·         Director Tichenor informed the board that Summer Fest had been cancelled per a letter he had received.

·         Superintendent Watson informed the board that unless there is an emergency hydrant flushing will begin on Tuesday also noting that all filters have been serviced.  Mayor York questioned the city's water levels and was informed that they are good.  Mayor York requested of the news reporter present to put a small notice in the paper that the city's water levels are good, but he would appreciate common sense in water use.
