Geographical Information System (GIS)
The GIS office, as a function of the Board of Works, is charged with creating and maintaining digital maps of the city water and sewer utility systems. Data is collected from many sources and include field surveys, old maps, new construction, and the knowledge of city personnel. Using this data, a comprehensive map of the utility systems has been created. Updating of the data and checks for accuracy are continually performed.
The GIS office also assists in development and implementation of the city's Long Term Control Plan, and MS4 program. Mapping requirements are submitted annually as part of the reporting requirements of the respective programs.
